Waterfall Trail

Lagoas to Fajã Grande

Difficulty: Hard
Distance: 8.7 km
Duration: 3-5 hours

This stunning trail, from Lagoas to Fajã Grande, offers an easy photographic walk amidst the lakes of Caldeira Negra, Comprida, Branca, and Seca, followed by a challenging descent that reveals iconic views over Fajã Grande. We suggest taking a taxi to the lakes viewpoint to start your downhill journey; this is easier than climbing up, although both options are possible. A sunny, clear day is mandatory; clouds mean descending a steep mountain in the rain, fog, and with no view. Finish your hike with a reviving dip in Poço do Bacalhau waterfall and a well-deserved sunset dinner at the Barraca Q'abana café attached to the Fajã Grande campsite.
